Coaching

Multidimensional Spiritual Coaching - The following description of Coaching is a generalized concept of coaching written in the fall of 2002 when this site was developed. In early January 2003, I gained an entirely new perspective of coaching that I call Multidimensional Spiritual Coaching. It is by far the most powerful form of coaching that I have experienced. Coaching is one half "science" and process combined with one half art. What is it? Coaching is whatever it takes to enable someone to change, to transform. It is the method whereby we cause something to be other than what it is. Think about it. We go through life continually causing aspects of our lives to be something other than what they are. We hunger, we need to change that state or condition, and so we eat. The examples are as endless as the collective pursuits of humanity at any given moment.

Sometimes, there are aspects of our lives that we desire or need to change, and we don't know how. If those changes were important enough to us, then we would change them - if we knew how. Enter the coach. Tom Landry, the original and long-time coach of the Dallas Cowboys professional American football team, is reputed to have said something to the effect that, "A coach motivates you to do the things that you don't want to do in order to be who you need to be." That's a good example of what any kind of coach does.

Obviously, there are coaches for just about anything anyone would want to do better or differently. Good questions to ask of a prospective coach are:

  1. What qualifies you to coach (in a particular domain)?
  2. What is your coaching methodology?
  3. How much do you charge?
  4. What is my (the client's) commitment (to the coach) to being coaching?
  5. Do you have references?

What kind of coach am I? Although I am qualified to coach (and have done so) in a variety of domains, now I only coach people who have a need to spiritually evolve by:

  • Awakening to their spirituality
  • Reconnecting with our collective divinity through loving themselves
  • Learning to manifest what they need to pursue their passions

So, applying the above questions to myself, here are my answers:

1: What qualifies you to coach spiritual evolution?
Answer:
First, I have awakened my own spirituality, learned to love myself, and am manifesting what I need in order to pursue my passion. I am not operating from some theoretical model; I have been there and done that. Second, I formally studied clinical and spiritual psychology, as well as counseling techniques and practices, at the graduate school level.

2: What is your coaching methodology?
Answer: My method is simple, not necessarily easy. I begin with determining if the person really has arrived at the point of needing to evolve spiritually. If so, then we begin by examining the judgments the person holds about him or herself. From there, we work to release the judgments by understanding and eliminating the fears that underlie the judgments.

During this phase, a number of tools are provided that the person can elect to use or not. Last, once the person has truly reconnected with who he or she is and discovered self-love, the third step is taken which is to learn the techniques of manifesting what the person needs to pursue his or her passion. It is in the realm of learning how to powerfully and consistently manifest that I possess a unique methodology. This step comes last since a crucial requirement of powerfully manifesting is loving yourself.

Also, if you did not read the information on Multidimensional Coaching above,
please do so as this is the modality that
I now use with most of my clients.

I do coaching sessions by telephone, by email, and instant messaging, or if the geography works, in person. I also take people on shamanic based journeys.

3: How much do you charge?
Answer:
Telephone or instant messaging sessions are $50 per sesssion with a minimum of one hour per session. The actual session lasts as long as it takes to work through the focus of the session. The fee is still $50 even if more than an hour is needed.

Email sessions are $100 per month with a maximum of ten email exchanges between the person and me (one email exchange is one message from the person and one message from me). Payment is required up front, and personal checks or credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) are accepted.

4: What is my (the client's) commitment (to me) to being coached?
Answer: What I expect from my clients is: to keep scheduled appointments or let me know as far in advance as possible that an appointment cannot be kept as scheduled, speak their truth when in session, and do what they say they are going to do as a result of a session. These two latter commitments are also keys to creating and conserving personal power.

5: Do you have references?
Answer: Yes, references are available. It is not appropriate to list them here. Email me for further information. ron@ronmccray.com

As to the question of being ready for coaching, an old "how many…" joke sums it all up quite well: How many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer: Only one but the light bulb really has to need to change.

What kind of light bulb are you?
