Modest
Proposals
Uncommon thinking about common experiences inspired
by a quote attributed to Albert Einstein:
“Today’s problems cannot be solved at the same
level of thinking that created them."

How
the original Modest Proposals came about...
Modest Proposals
was an unplanned child, not unwanted, simply unplanned. Following
the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the US in New York City
and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., I wrote an editorial intended
for publication in the October PlanetLightworker newsletter. I sent
the editorial to the Managing Editor, Sandie Sedgbeer. She decided
that it should not wait until October, so it was immediately emailed
to the subscribers to the newsletter. The editorial was subsequently
also printed in the October edition as an article. Here is the original
newsletter: Original
Modest Proposal - September 2001. After its initial appearance,
the newsletter drew a lot of attention and got picked up by other
sites and newsletters making its way around the world. I got many
responses to it, mostly supportive.
Based on its success
and with the support of Sandie Sedgbeer and Steve Rother, I started
my own newsletter called Modest Proposals, publishing one each month
beginning in November 2001. I explore different formats and "voices"
with the newsletter and the opt-in subscriptions have grown steadily
over the months. Writing the newsletters is challenging, exhilarating,
and humbling. It's humbling because responses to the topics I choose
are often better than what I wrote which says to me that there are
many people out there in the world who have a lot to say, and who
say it eloquently. I consider myself very fortunate to have the platform
that the Modest Proposals provide.
What is it that
I have to say? Mainly, I write about topics that stimulate and inform.
My mission in life, albeit I was a late bloomer, is to inspire people
to awaken to the fact that we are all spiritual beings having a human
experience, reconnect with our divinity, and learn to manifest what
we need in life to pursue our passions. Simply put, the essence of
who I am is inspiration. I believe in providing a call to action to
use whatever I write to enable the readers to move forward in some
way in their lives. I do not believe that what I write is the only
way or truth. I offer just another flavor in the cosmic Baskin
Robbins ice cream store. What any one does with the information is
up to him or her. I simply call it the way I see it.
With that in mind,
here are the Modest Proposals published to date. There is a link at the top of this page to
sign up for the newsletter if you choose to do so.
