A Modest Proposal

Harmonic Confusion

… and yes, I am confused after reading a half-dozen or so interpretations of the Harmonic Concordance (HC) that will complete in the period of November 8-9, 2003. Clearly the astrological definition of the HC is clear and unequivocal. The signs are a Grand Sextile (star tetrahedron) formed by six planets during a total lunar eclipse. The outline of this alignment is a six pointed star also known as the Star of David. These are the facts. What follows, and is reaching a point of predictive/interpretive frenzy, is: what does the HC mean?

In 1998, astrologer John Mirehiel discovered this approaching phenomenon and realized that this was not the chart of an individual but of Mother Earth herself. Beginning from this premise, the fundamental interpretations that I have read come down to:

1. Nothing is going to happen. The HC is an interesting astronomical event and nothing else, so, ho hum, let’s go back to work.

2. It signals the end of the world. Several ancient prophecies have indicated that the year of 2012 marks the end of something and the beginning of something else. There are some who are maintaining that the Roman Catholic Church played games with the Gregorian calendar moving it back a collective nine years which would mean that it is really 2012 Gregorian now; hence, the HC is the herald of “something.” All who support this interpretation agree that humanity will not be the same after the HC. Maybe we won’t be here at all.

3. Last, the interpretations/predictions in this category have the theme that the HC heralds an opening and an opportunity that humanity can be greater in a spiritual sense than we have been. The HC becomes a huge billboard in the heavens that signifies to all of us that it is time to wake up. I like this one…

However, before delving into #3, I would like to comment on #1 and #2 first. As for #1, nothing is going to happen, well, that certainly could be case; however, my belief is that nothing happens without a reason. The fact that we do not always know the “why” does not necessarily invalidate the possibility of a “why.” Call me Pollyanna, but that is what I believe. If this is so, what is the why of the HC? That brings us to #2.

Number 2 is about either fear or hope. Fear that the cataclysmic end of the world, for example, the apocalypse of the Christian New Testament as foretold in the Book of Revelations, is at hand and humanity will ascend or descend depending on the spiritual quality of one’s life and corresponding personal beliefs. I do not think this is going to happen through universal or spiritual causality. Our best shot at pulling off planet-wide destruction pretty much died with the implosion of the Soviet Union. We could still manage to do it, but I think the odds are slim. There are always two of the standard disaster movie scenarios: we are going to be whacked by an errant comet or the sun will explode. Maybe that will happen, but we will have some warning.

The end times are not upon us, HC or not. It simply does not make sense from a practical perspective. Why would God start the grand human experiment, only to pull the rug out from underneath us when we finally begin to make some progress? Were our ratings that bad; was the Almighty not earning enough advertising revenue? I don’t think so.

I believe the end time scenario is based on the collective guilt of humanity, that as a species we are not “good enough” and like disobedient children, we cower in the corner of the closet waiting for Father to come home and punish us. I think the greatest threats we have to humanity are human in nature, not spiritual. If you want to worry, focus your attention on Al Queda, North Korea, or George Bush, not God. If I am wrong, then we are all going to die and there is nothing left to be concerned about, want, or wish for –end of story, so why worry?

Hope, on the other hand, is based on the recurring, however absurdly vague, promise that humanity’s salvation will be visited upon us by some galactic wave of energy that will sweep away our “sins” with a spiritual strobe light. We will all kiss and make up, after apologizing for all of the bad stuff we did in this lifetime. It’s kind of like a species wide confessional except we don’t have to actually confess (that would take a really long time) or do penance. Just hop on a white, puffy cloud and take off.

This one works well for the lazy, instant gratification crowd who indulges in self-pity and the absolute refusal to accept responsibility in the “hope and hype” that some “event” will take place that absolves them of having been victims who certainly did not need to take responsibility for themselves. Just hang around long enough, and we will be taken care of. Before you hit the delete button, allow me one more thought. I am not judging anybody in what I wrote. I, too, have indulged in self-pity and ducked responsibility. I know that God does not judge me for having done so, and I do not have the right to judge myself or anyone else. I believe what I wrote is true, and it is okay for folks to be that way – it is, after all, their lives and their choices. All choices are equally honored. So what’s the big deal?

The big deal is that by living in that kind of hope, there is no opportunity to learn to love ourselves and thereby live lives of harmony and fulfillment instead of guilt and wishful thinking. We are here to be fulfilled and harmonious in spite of the fear that comes with our humanness. Lots of things can harm or destroy our bodies, yet we have immortal souls that yearn to be recognized. We recognize our souls by loving ourselves.

That brings me to #3, a spiritual signpost in the sky. The signpost may be just that, maybe not very specific or instructive, but one of those advertisements that is meant to pique our curiosities. You know, like some of the pharmaceutical ads on TV, “Ask your doctor about Zombex!” What the heck is Zombex, and why may I need it? Curiosity. Maybe that is what the HC is all about. So, since the signpost is not specific, we can all derive our own interpretations. Mine stems from a dialogue with my inner guidance:

The Harmonic Concordance is a huge and visible sign. We humans so much enjoy the physical. It is what we perceive as “reality,” but that is a subject for another time. The sign is a reminder to us that our primary task on Earth is to be in unconditional love with ourselves. ”How may I do this?” you ask. Well, it is simple but not easy. There are five steps to self-love.

1. Seek knowledge from whomever and whatever sources are available to you whether the source is in 3D or other D. Be not afraid to be exposed to anything that is presented to you. All knowledge must come from somewhere. Even what we think we invent comes from someplace other than our minds. Be open, not gullible. Do not buy shares in any New York bridges.

2. Discern what is presented to you. Does it ring true with your inner guidance? Use your power of uh-huh and unh-unh. Do this without thinking about it. Take your first answer for it is most likely to be true for you. If your inner guidance says unh-unh, then leave the knowledge for someone else for it is not meant for you. If your inner guidance says uh-huh, then claim that knowledge for your own.

3. Find a teacher who can support you in healing the wounds of the past that keep you stuck in the past. Even with this teacher, always exercise your discernment. Do not give up your power to anyone. It is your power, exercised by you, that will result in your healing.

4. Apply and learn from whatever passes your discernment filter. Be in action. Action means doing something. Insights are useless unless they are applied, placed in action. Stay in action until you are sufficiently healed, and then STAY in action, for living life as a human is a constant challenge. If you have found the right knowledge and teacher for you, and you are in action, you will surely heal your past.

5. Support others in learning to heal themselves through the four steps above. Someone, somewhere, in someway will have helped you. “Pay it forward,” as the much neglected film advocated. As you support others, you will find that love of yourself grows accordingly until you are less and less in the grip of 3D existence. It is then that fulfillment and harmony are yours. Do not wait to become “enlightened” before you begin supporting others. If you are further along your path than someone, you can support him or her in moving forward.

My proposal to you is consider these suggestions carefully and discern your truth within them, and, if you are so moved, do something about it. See the Harmonic Concordance as a signpost which announces that now is the time to heal yourself and begin supporting others.

May you be well and discern with compassion,

Ron McCray
